Win with Wee Generation
I always thought I’d be a cloth diaper kinda gal.
Wanting to be as environmentally conscious as possible, I was determined to do the cloth thing full time.
But, a tough birth, a rough first eight weeks for our daughter and some serious realizations about managing time and energy sent me right down the diaper aisle.

When I first started test driving environmentally-friendly disposables, I was less than enthusiastic at the prospect of using them. Many were very, very bulky, several didn’t seal very well and a lot of them were just unconscionably expensive.
Shortly after our daughter was born, Seventh Generation - a green company that I have long been loyal to - retooled their chlorine-free diapers. So, I tried them again and, whoa, were they ever the ticket.
We’ve been a Seventh Generation diaper family ever since. (Thrifty’s has the best buy on them in town, and often puts them on sale).
I went to buy a new pack of them the other day and found a sticker for Wee Generation. While I hoped it was a $1-off coupon, I did find out about a fun, new green initiative sponsored by Seventh Generation and partners.
Every time you buy Seventh Generation baby products through December you can enter your UPC code for free gifts and register for a drawing for a green nursery and other great green baby gear.
While you’re there, you can also be a part of designing a new green diaper bag.
Now that we’ve gotten through all of the consumerism, the great part about Wee Generation is it - although just in its beginning stages - is all about helping parents understand the environmental hazards that live in your house and giving ideas on how to raise green-minded kiddos.
It gets stars like Sheryl Crow involved and offers up eco baby shower tips and, while very pop culture, is still pretty great.
I admit it, the green diaper bag initiative is what kept me there.
Check it out, though.
You never know, you may just be the proud owner of your own eco nursery!

you might also want to check out amazon.com’s grocery section. They sell a lot of seventh generation things in bulk for good savings, and often offer free shipping and incentives. Right now they’ve got $20 off an order of $79 or more of participating ‘green’ household products (not sure if this includes seventh generation diapers, it didn’t include their tampons- bah!) and so I was able to stock up on dish detergent, laundry detergent and what not for cheap cheap cheap.
this is cool too, but pricey: http://www.alternativeconsumer.com/2007/08/23/papas-got-a-brand-new-diaper-bag/
I found a site that helps the environment by reducing the amount of postal junk mail you have. It saves a lot of trees too! It only costs $2.95 a month for this service. You can cut down on the number of credit card offers, catalogs, flyers, sales promotions, and inserts. They will even plant a tree on your behalf when you sign up! Let’s all do our part to help the environment. Here’s the URL.
