Robin is Our Big Earth’s Executive Editor. A journalist with nearly 20 years under her belt, she’s worked for newspapers and magazines across North America. The Comox Valley became her home in 2006 when she and her husband ditched big-city life to be close to family while raising their daughter.

Hanging with Dad!

Editor’s Note:

In celebration of Dad’s Day, we are taking a break from regularly scheduled programming.

We’ll be back with the final Mompreneur for June next Sunday. The Mompreneur series has received a really great response from everyone. So, we’ll be turning it into a regular monthly feature starting in July.

If you have someone you’d like to nominate for The Mompreneur drop me an e-mail with a little bit about them as well as their contact information.

As always, thanks for being a part of it all!

The tiny person and I just crawled out of bed after a rough night of 3 a.m. nosebleeds, spooky bedroom ghosts and general unwell-ness.

But, that won’t be stopping us from creating a super special pancake cake breakfast (a special day tradition around here), whipping out our half-dried hand print art for the big guy to check out and creating a pretty cool yet very last minute dad’s day card including some gorgeous photos from a Dad’s Day shoot we snuck out to do earlier in the week.

We may even make it up the mountain today for our annual Dad’s Day hike around Paradise Meadow.

I’d aim for something profound here. But, instead I think I’ll be shooting for something real.

I love my Dad.

I love my husband.

I so admire the Dad universe as it’s a tough, thankless road.

While we are making this as easy-going and happy-filled day as possible for Ken, I also will be missing my Pop a bit and wishing we could do the same for him.

Dad and I share a holiday tradition of getting a bit weepy and blue, which isn’t the most positive version of it all. But, we tear up and go into gush mode because time together is the only thing that really matters to us…and it’s rare, living on opposite ends of the continent.

So, when you are coming up with that last minute special way to give your special Dad that boost, plan a walk, a meal, an afternoon lounging in the backyard.

It really is the time hanging out that matters.

Happy Father’s Day to all of the amazing Dads out there!
