Go Eco-Baby with Sage Creek Organics

This holiday season, I’ve had a huge whack of requests from friends and family about some special deliveries for our new arrival.
He/she won’t be greeting us formally until June. But, one of the most fun parts of pregnancy (besides back pain and nausea, of course) is getting all of those special little pieces of clothing, bedding, stuffies and special touches ready to go to welcome a new tiny person into the world.
I am more than happy to get started on that process ASAP:)
That said, Ken and I made a vow that most of what we pick up for this tiny person will be organic, plastic-free and low-impact.
It seems a bit easier to go organic this time as we have so much left from our oldest (that sounds so weird to say). Even if it’s a boy, we had a fairly rigid no-pink rule when our daughter was born. So, there are PLENTY of hand-me-downs that were barely even touched in that first year of onesies, onesies and more onesies.
That means we’ll be focusing on less gear buying and more on special pieces that, although organic can be code for expensive, will be worth it because it’s sleepwear, sheets, onesies and blankets that will be with him/her constantly.

I’ve been doing much admiring of organic baby gear lately and have totally fallen for the Sage Creek Organics soft, cozy and simply adorable line of baby clothes.
Brian and Julie at Organic Family Natural Home, a diminutive organic family store in Cumberland, carry much of the line – including gorgeous organic sheets (10% off right now) and a whole range of baby clothes that make me wish I could find pajamas like these for myself. The best news is that it all comes with a reasonable price tag.
I will most definitely be scooping up a whole pile of Sage Creek onesies. But, my favourite by far has got to be the Kimono sets.

I like a bit of funk and style in kids clothes and much of the Sage Creek line is very lovely, traditional designs with some modern details. The details, look and feel of the kimono sets are absolutely great. Those paired with the fun ladybug, dragonfly or other creature onesies make for some adorable outfits that are as good for the Earth and their are for your kiddos.
Not to mention, Sage Creek – while now sold through an American distributor – was started right here on Vancouver Island.
Which leads me to my last holiday recommendation in the organic family department. If you’ve been thinking about buying that one pair of perfect, soft, luxurious sheets for your kids or yourself, the Sage Creek organic bedding line is off the charts.
Definitely a spectacular, comfy, cozy score for these dark, chilly, Vancouver Island Winters.
You can find Sage Creek Organics at Organic Family Natural Home on Dunsmuir Avenue in downtown Cumberland.
