Product Review – Daisychain Maternity Support Belts

Posted by Robin Rivers on March 16th, 2009 14 Comments Printer-Friendly

Good morning. I’m still feeling mighty sluggish and a bit dazed after a weekend across the (tiny) pond battling hordes of Spring Breakers at Science World while trying to cram in some relax time and catch up with pals.

Getting over to Vancouver is totally fantastic. But, I always feel like we never get the chance to REALLY hang out with friends as we bounce from place to place to place. Thankfully, there was plenty of hanging this weekend and I’m incredibly grateful for the fun break.

While we were there, I spotted TONS of very pregnant mamas – many of them in full gear hauling older kids around, hoofing it six blocks to the Sky Train, all while looking spectacular.

They even looked like they felt good, and I quickly noticed that many of them had super funky support gear in the form of a maternity belt.

Genius.

Before I was pregnant, I’d never even heard of maternity support belts. So, when my back started aching and feet started swelling, it never occurred to me to try one of them out until a friend gave me an absolutely crazy contraption that went under my clothes like a girdle. Yuck!

But, now they are so hot, so NOT girdle-like and two Comox Valley mom entrepreneurs are making some seriously hot maternity support belts – Daisychains.

Sisters Anna and Ocean over at Daisychain Maternity won my fan-ship a bit ago. I L-O-V-E their story and think their funky belts are not only practical, but make any mama feel beautiful.

Plus, I love that I can buy something like this made locally (they aren’t the only ones making them either!) and share them with friends.

I have two pregnant pals right now who swear by their maternity support belts and am convinced that once we are bunning-in-the-oven again my tired, 37-year-old aching back will be bowing to Daisychain greatness for saving it from what is destined to be a seriously rough ride.

I dig all the bonuses of belts, like reducing stretch marks, helping out with my posture and keeping me on my feet. My pal Rachel gave me the low down about how these cute belts kept her on her feet (she’s a bit wobbly) and she’d be done with a day of work and still feel energetic enough to have some fun with her preschooler.

The Daisychains have great fabrics for just about any kind of mama and are super comfy.

You can pick up one of your very own at Daisychainmaternity.com

…OR you can WIN one today. Just leave a comment here about the craziness that is that third tri-mester of pregnancy and what you wished (or currently wish) was out there to relieve all of that body stress and Anna and Ocean will hook you up with a complimentary Daisychain!

Do you think I could get away with one of these to cure my back problems AFTER pregnancy?:)

These sound great, Robin! My back has been killing me lately (and ribs and hips…) – I’ll definitely have to check them out. Thanks!

My back ached something fierce during the third trimester with my son. I was lucky enough to be off work for an entire month before he arrived, but spent most of it sitting or lying with my feet up and back propped. I yearned to be out walking the mornings away and enjoying sea air. For baby number two, back support will be key. These look supportive and incredibly fashionable. How can I loose?!

The craziness that is the third trimester hey? How about a lovely combination of working on your feet for 8-9 hours a day with 24 hour nausea (yes I am one of those unlucky ones), and high blood pressure, coming home to chase around a preschooler, and when you are able to actually take a break, and lie down, it takes you 10 minutes to move from that position because of the excrutiating back pain. That was my second pregnancy, and as you can guess, not the most fun.
I’m on round 3 of pregnancies now. Not working, but 2 instead of 1 to run around after, and anyone who does or makes ANYTHING to help women through the roller coaster of pregnancy are angels in my book.
Thanks so much for doing something to make life a little easier and stylish for us! Good job girls, keep it up!

Very very cute. I’m not going to be pregnant again, can I wear one anyway? I’ll grow a beer belly maybe….

Kathy… you’re supposed to grow into matching outfits with Paul, not bellies.

I’ll need the belly before the outfits will match (sorry Paul). Hey, do they make support belts for men? (duct tape??)

I am on my second pregnancy and I’m not loving it as much as I loved being pregnant with my son. I work in a trendy lingerie store and I’m planning on working as long as I can. I love fashion so much but want to stay comfortable. The Daisy chain maternity belt looks fantastic! It’s something i can see myself wearing as often as I can. I love the denim one and the metro although they’re all lovely. I’ve been unable to find them in my city so Online is my only option. They look like the best option for a pregnant fashionista!

I couldn’t wait to see if i had won and bought my own daisy chain maternity belt. IT IS FANTASTIC!!! i was having a lot of lower back pain and it’s been gone! I cannot believe how wonderful it is. I bought the metro style and it’s so soft and comfortable to wear and it’s so supportive. It’s like getting a great bra when your breasts get sore, or a new pair of shoes for tired feet. I’ve been recommending it to a number of customers and friends.

I saw your item on TV last week. Fantastic. I sure would have loved to have such a thing for my 2 pregnancies. I’m a granny now and just have to get one for my daughter – is in first trimester. As others have mentioned here, the belt might be perfect for the weight of a “beer belly”!!! I don’t live in Comox, and would like to get one to Prince George, do you do shipping??

Wow – can these claims be true? I am in my third trimester and am miserable/desperate for relief. Several years ago I had a bad car accident and was left with chronic back pain and never dreamed I would suffer as much as I am carrying this baby. I am 40 and this is my first and may be my only child and this entire pregnancy has it’s taken quite a toll on me lately. I wish there was a product that could take the extra weight and carry it for me, realistically though, I am searching for the answer to my back pain and swelling.

I am just starting the second trimester of my 2nd pregnancy, and my hips and back are already starting to hurt. My first pregnancy, no one ever mentioned anything about a maternity support belt to me, and I wish they had. I am searching today for one to buy, why not? I know its early, but I am popping out like i’m 5 months already! I am looking forward to trying one, and I am even more excited that there are fashionable ones out there!! I will definately be looking into Daisy Chain’s line!! Thanks.

I’ve got 6-8 weeks left of carrying my twins, and my back has just started killing me! I’ve got a 2 year-old to take care of and could really use some relief. If my back stops hurting so badly during the day, maybe I could actually get some decent sleep at night!!
