Editor’s Note: If you missed Marcie Dumais’ column on turning old traditions into something all your own, check it out HERE. Now, it’s time to tell you a bit about Our Big Earth’s last community event for 2009. We hope you’ll join us for a wonderful evening of fun for a great cause.
Our Big Earth and our friends from the local arts, media, politics and business community are joining forces for a special evening on Tuesday Dec. 22 at the Florence Filberg Centre to raise much needed funds for emergency shelter for men, women and children.
Don’t miss 15 fun-loving community readers, a truly awesome story, live music with Luke Guthrie and Ali Romanow, tasty treats, hot drinks, twinkly lights and an evening spent with friends and neighbors.

We are all big fans of all the wonderful parts of the Christmas season. But for some folks this is a time of conflict, violence and strife in a place that should be sacred and safe – our homes. That is why we are motivated to do this event and to come together with friends and community allies to support the organizations who provide a place that is safe when there is no where else for people to turn.
Join Robin, Ken, Meaghan, Fred, Greg, Colleen, Doug, Marla, Bobby, Steve, Gen, Anh, Bethany, Bruce and Kymme for a live reading of this classic tale. Thanks to Ross and Kymme at Theatreworks for technical support.
Admission is a sliding scale of $10-$25 (or more!) with 100% of proceeds going to Lilli House and the Salvation Army Mens Shelter. Doors open at 7:00p.m., music starts at 7:30p.m. Donations in lieu of attendance are very welcome!
Tickets are available at Seeds Natural Foods Market in Cumberland, Laughing Oyster Books in Courtenay and Planet Kids in Comox.
We hope you’ll join us for this fun, festive evening.
