Editor’s note: This morning’s post on making felt fortune cookies to celebrate the combo of Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day (both Feb. 14 this year) was so much fun. You can check it out HERE. Now, it’s time to finally get back outside as we get down to the business of registering for our retooled and expanded NeighbourWood Walks program.
If you’ve been wondering what the heck is going on with the Winter NeighbourWood Walk series, we’ve been gathering information and seeing what everyone wants and needs from the good times spent exploring the woods together and got some very interesting results.
It turns out that families with young kids really want a Wednesday morning walk. Families with school-aged kids really want something on a Sunday afternoon.

We got such a great response and overwhelming requests for two walks that we can’t help ourselves but to offer just that. This season we are kicking off the 10 a.m. Tiny Toadstool Wednesday walks (geared toward preschoolers) and the 1 p.m. NeighbourWood Explorers Sunday walks (geared toward families with kids ages 5-10)
Wednesdays will be all about fun and play. Sundays you’ll get a bit more of a learning adventure – a taste of what’s to come this Spring when we launch our outdoor educational walk series with community partners who will bring you a great experience. All of it will be fantastically fun.

The weekday NeighbourWood Walk series meets at 10 a.m. each Wednesday at the following locations:
Feb 3 – Courtenay Air Park
