Product Review – Sassy Smoking Lily Linens

Posted by Robin Rivers on February 8th, 2010 2 Comments Printer-Friendly

Happy Monday! It’s February and I have to say that this time of year pretty much sucks wind in my book. It’s that 6-week swath of gray before the flowers really start to bloom that makes me want to book an out-of-country holiday or – in less expensive, more local move – redecorate.

I also feel like we’re still in financial recovery mode from the holidays. We didn’t even sort of overspend this year. But, things are so very lean around our house these days. That means that the peeling off of hideous wallpaper in the bedroom, or that bathroom redo which has been in the works mentally for the last three years will remain figments of my imagination.

But, the one thing that I know I can do – and always makes the house seem fresh and new – is deck out the kitchen and bath with new linens.

When linens are your major remodel for the season, I head straight for the good stuff. That would most definitely be Smoking Lily’s gorgeous screen print linen collection that not only makes any house lovely, but gives it a bit of an edgy funk.

Kitchen towels are most definitely the unsung hero of room design. They can give your kitchen a sweet sense of Spring or that sense of identity that makes you want to cook up something extraordinary.

Smoking Lily linens can’t help but be just that. Made in Victoria, these groovy cotton gems are as utilitarian as they are pretty. I love them because they aren’t your average dish towel – too smart and sassy for that. But, they work like a bar towel.

Unless you’re in Victoria or Vancouver, Smoking Lily goodness is not an easy score. Of course, that is unless you live in the Comox Valley where you can find linens, tea cozies and more Smoking Lily at The Rusty Rooster in Cumberland (thank you Paola).

I seem to go back to Smoking Lily time and time again when it comes to those special touches in our house or gifts for friends. The linens are priced nicely when it comes time for a special treat, and it also helps that shopping at Rusty Rooster is always a joy (plus we can stop at Dark Side Chocolates for a salted caramel truffle afterwards).

It’s just the touch you need to brighten up these crazy gray Winter days and make room for a little Spring in your life – even if Punxsutawney Phil says it’s another six weeks away.

Here at Our Big Earth we have a strict policy about how we handle product reviews. We only review products we've enjoyed and, while businesses do occasionally send us products (we will always tell you when that is the case) we either pay for the product or use it as a giveaway. If a product is not reviewed, it is returned. If a product is reviewed, a business or advertiser has no editorial control over the review.

They see the review for the first time when you do. Advertisers and businesses cannot pay to have their products reviewed and you'll never see a link, product or business mention in a post that has been purchased by that business.

I love fresh new linens! These are so pretty! Too bad mine end up with Jam or Soya Sauce on them……
