Get Registered for the Comox Valley 30-Day Local Food Challenge
Editor’s Note: If you missed out on Christine’s delicious kid-friendly dessert recipe, you can find it HERE. Now, it’s time to get yourself registered for the 2010 30 Day Local Food Challenge. It’s a day for food!
It’s that time of year when fresh fruits and vegetables seem to be leaping out of gardens and onto our plates. You can practically smell the freshness in the air and – particularly in the Comox Valley – eating local is foodie heaven.
It’s also time for the 2010 Comox Valley 30-Day Local Food Challenge – hosted each year by Our Big Earth Media Co. But, really, we’re just the organizational machine. This is all about showcasing farmers, food producers, chefs and foodies across the Comox Valley and the incredible food they bring to our tables every day.
There’s no giving up of coffee or sugar. No tucking away your pasta or mangoes. The Food Challenge is an indulgent month from July 2 to Aug. 2 where you can get out and explore local farms, have a fantastic meal at a local restaurant, get your kids digging in the dirt, learn about how cheese, beer and chocolate are made locally and more.

Registration for this event kicks off today with the Food Challenge and the JET FM Green Team live from Noon to 3 p.m. out at the Comox Valley Visitors Information Centre on Cliffe Avenue. You can pick up your free Food Challenge Passport (which you need to get into events and be eligible for the more than $2,000 in prizes) and register live to get started.
