| December 7, 2010 | 1 Comment

In the midst of the massive adjustment from one to two kids and living out a sleepless existence with a newborn, I have conceeded to the need to keep things as simple as possible this holiday season, especially when it comes to crafts. There are no major shopping adventures for supplies or weeks of planning and prep. Quick and dirty is my mode.:)

Here are two fun, cute projects that double as tree ornaments and are easy for kids to jump in with:

Egg Carton Bells

I love anything that lets us reuse the zillions of egg cartons in our house and this one is as easy as it is kid-friendly.

Here’s what you need:

  • egg cartons
  • scissors
  • tempera paint
  • paint brush
  • rafia
  • glitter glue
  • a pen
  • jingle bells

1. Cut up the egg carton into 12 cups and paint them. Let the dry for a few hours.

2. Punch a hole in the top with a pen, string the rafia through and tie a bell on the end.

3. Decorate with glitter glue and let dry overnight.

Twig Stars

Here’s a great excuse for a walk in the woods. I love the simplicity of this.

Here’s what you need:

  • twigs
  • a glue gun
  • decorations (we used wool to have a lovely Waldorf feel)
