Toddler Board Books – Touch and Feel Animals

| November 12, 2011 | 2 Comments

Books are something that even the smallest of people in our house has as much access to as she could ever want. Our wee one is constantly pulling books off of the shelves, checking out the pictures and – of course – occasionally tearing the pages our of them as well. We’ve definitely tried to steer her toward the less-likely-to-be-destroyed board books and she has discovered a whole world of sensory coolness that keeps her going back for more.

Her favorite books right now are ones that have been a favorite around here through cousins and friends and her older sister too.

The DK Touch and Feel Animals line of board books is currently giving her a great introduction to lots of different kinds of creatures and all of their cool textures too.

She definitely has a few favorites, especially Touch And Feel Farm which gives her a fun story and great pictures of farm animals who are soft, fuzzy and sweet. We’ve even started to get the hang of the noises and she is all about picking out the creatures on her own. Very fun.

Coming in a close second is Touch And Feel Baby Animals. This book also has a great, simple, clear story with bright pictures and lots of cool textures. We’ve got a few other including Wild Animals and Pets which are also very fun too. There is a really solid selection of Touch and Feel books of all kinds in the DK line to pick from for kids who are interested in just about anything.

We have found these books, even with their soft-touch features, to be nearly indestructible, having now gone through two of our kids and a handful of others in between. They are still in great shape and you’d hardly known they’d lived in the toddler universe for so long.

I like them myself because they give toddlers a simple, lovely introduction to real life images of animals and a way to engage too. Perfect. They aren’t a bad pricepoint either at $7.99.

The OBE recommendation for DK Touch and Feel animal books comes straight from our 1-year-old. She’s all about the books and these are definitely amongst her faves.

We always recommend that you pick up these and other books from your local, independent book seller. But, if you do choose to buy them online, please consider supporting OBE by clicking on the links above and shopping from there.

These are great books for little ones. We had several too. Another favorite at our house was Open The Barn Door. It’s so cute watching little chubby fingers opening the small flaps. I often buy this one for little ones.
