Calling all youth 19 and under! Get outdoors and connect with nature! Head to www.gettoknow.ca to submit art, writing, photography, video, or music inspired by your outdoor experiences and you could win some wild prizes!
It may only be the beginning of March. But, you can start cracking on your outdoor awesomeness and get it ready to submit beginning April 8. We are excited over here at OBE as we and Mherge Media Group are media sponsors for the 2013 event! We’ve been helping get kids excited about Canada and its outdoor awesomeness since 2009 and are proud supporters of the Canadian Wildlife Federation and the Get To Know Program!
The contest opens April 8 and runs until August 1. And don’t forget to tell your friends and like GTK on Facebook to stay in the loop on other great opportunities from Get to Know.
There is also an EARLY BIRD photo contest where you can submit photos of your backyard bird boxes to win some great prizes (before April 8. So, move it!). Check out all of the details HERE.
Here’s a fun video from the 2012 event to get you excited! We’ll keep you up to date and share some fun we are having here getting to know our outdoor neighbors. So, stay tuned for more good times.
Canadian youth (19 and younger) are invited to go outside and “get to know” their natural world. Now in its 14th year, the Contest encourages all young people to develop a deeper appreciation for nature and biodiversity by getting outdoors and creating art, writing, digital photography, video and music. The goal of the contest is to engage the power of art to help youth feel more connected with nature. It’s all about making connections with other environmentally passionate youth, using the creative arts to convey their passion, and having their accomplishments celebrated. We invite youth to Connect…Create …Celebrate! with the Get to Know Contest.
Youth just need to get outdoors and share their outdoor experiences through the contest. So whether their outdoor experience begins with a single tree in a backyard or acres of boreal forest in a national park, the contest offers youth the opportunity to learn about and celebrate their local biodiversity. Winners will receive all kinds of wild prizes, including a chance to have their entry published in the 2014 Get to Know Calendar and tons of other great prizes. The contest opens April 8 and runs until August 1. To learn more and find out how to enter, visit www.gettoknow.ca.
