THE ART OF STORYTELLING

Literacy and storytelling is at the core of our mission here at Our Big Earth. Reading together as a family and creating stories are one of the most significant ways for parents and kids to connect. We spend a lot of time reading at OBE Headquarters and love to share our favorite finds twice a month as part of our Rainy-Day Book Club.
Through our partnership with Courtenay’s Laughing Oyster Book Shop, you’ll also find us actively engaged in the community connecting families and kids to great storytellers, special events and interactive projects.
We have reviewed dozens of books. Check some of them out including:
- Farm books including Ferdinand and Baby Danced The Polka
- Living Books like Mother Westwind and Make Way for Ducklings
- Books by B.C. author Sheryl McFarlane including Waiting for Whales and A Pod of Orcas
- Classics by Astrid Lindgren and Barbara Cooney
- Six great books for the first day of school
- Winter fun with author Jan Brett
- Funny books such as Scardey Squirrel and The Story of the Little Mole
